The only thing we can count on is…we can’t make plans.

We thought we could come home for a few days with some free days on the calendar. But first, Richard broke out in hives from some dry mouth products.  His white count was high, and we were afraid this would send him back to the hospital.  Surprisingly, it didn’t. It was a new doctor in clinic,  and she was laid back about it.  There were a few more complications.  But finally we made it home. His schedule  changes pretty often. He had some labs pop up on the schedule, so we had to turn around and come back before we intended to. By the time we got to the apartment, they’d already changed the time of his appointment. We have to remain extremely flexible.

After returning to the apartment after labs, Richard slept all day.  He seemed to feel okay after his long nap. My prayer from the beginning has been that he will be a walking talking miracle. A while back I realized he already is. He has endured more than most could ever imagine.

This new treatment isn’t easy and has its special issues, like cracking and peeling skin, not delicate peeling like a light sunburn that’s surface level. This peeling goes deeper.  Everything tastes the same…like nothing. I already mentioned the dry mouth.  There’s more, but you get the idea.

There is a Luby’s  that is still operational near here. I got Richard a chicken fried steak with cream gravy, mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese for lunch. He couldn’t finish it, but he tried. Not too sure how much he could taste, but he tried hard.

There isn’t much to report on. I’ll spare you the mundaneness of our days. Basically, every day we wait.  We wait to hear those glorious words telling us we can return  home.  Our faith remains strong. Our prayers continue, and we appreciate your prayers, too.

Have a beautiful rest of the week. We’ll be in and out of appointments.
